Gary Don Smith

Funeral services for Gary Don Smith, 71, of Lufkin will be held Friday, September 12, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Brother Adrian Neal officiating. Interment will follow the services. Masonic rites will be under the auspices of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669 A.F. & A.M.

Mr. Smith was born February 5, 1943 in Colfax, Texas to the late Willie (King) and E.T. “Red” Smith. He died Sunday, September 7, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Smith was a retired truck driver for Arnold Transportation. Formerly a resident of Diboll, he had lived in Lufkin most of his life. Mr. Smith had been a Mason since 1974.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Gail and Allen Lunsford of Hudson, Terry and Phleshia Smith of Lufkin, and Donald and Wanda Smith of Lufkin; grandchildren, Chaynna Basham and husband Seth, Bailey Lunsford, Ryleigh Lunsford, all of Hudson, Destiney Smith of Waco, Johnny McAdams, Jr., and Clayton Smith, both of Lufkin; great-grandsons, Brayden and Brycen Basham of Hudson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Florence Smith of Mason, Jerry Smith of Houston, and Billy Wayne and Leila Raye Smith of Corrigan; sisters, Venyta Smith of Diboll and Lynda Kay Smith of Lewisville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann Smith; and sister, Virginia Hazelwood.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sheral Johnson, Lamar Smith, Calvin Thigpen, Kelly Fuller, Trent Goodman, and Lance Hall.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
