Funeral services for Mary L. Denman Duke, 75, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, September 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Alex Montilla officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Duke was born October 25, 1938 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Lillie (Wooten) and Jim Denman. She died Saturday, September 6, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Duke was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved to take her family hunting and fishing. A resident of Lufkin for most of her life, she had also lived 23 years in Texas City. Mrs. Duke was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Robert M. Duke of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Louise Duke of Alaska, John and Liz Duke of Texas City; daughter, Donna Duke of Lufkin; grandson, Trent Duke of Alaska; brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Jenice Denman of Lufkin; half-sister, Norma Youngblood of Lufkin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Duke of Lufkin; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lillie Mae Wiggins; and brothers, David Denman, Arthur Denman, T.L. Sharp, and Junior Sharp. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank, Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Monday morning at the funeral home before the service.
