Sylvia C. Mallon

Funeral services for Sylvia C. Mallon, 80, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Simon Purvis officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery. Mrs. Mallon was born December 30, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas to Charles Allen and Sadie (Reid) Allen Cocker, and died Monday, September 1, 2014 in a local hospital. Mrs. Mallon had resided in Lufkin for 46 years. While her husband was in the military she lived in both the Philippines and Japan. She had worked for Kraft Foods, Story Wright, and the Zeleskey Law Firm. Mrs. Mallon enjoyed playing the piano and oil painting. She loved plants and flowers and enjoyed sewing and making Winnie the Pooh bears for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Word of Life Church. Survivors include her son, Ben Mallon of Lufkin; daughters, Evelyn Walcutt and husband Robert of Dickinson, Patricia Mallon of Austin, Wanda Hodges of Lufkin and Sylvia Ross of Antioch, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jason Walcutt, Wendy Cream, Jennifer Mallon, Travis Hodges, Karissa Hodges, Anna Statts, Zach Mallon, Callie Mallon and Cassie Mallon; great-grandchildren, Jacquelyne, Ashley, Darrin, Daniel, Tantyana, Carter Cash, Jaycie and Able; sister, Vivian Wehmeyer; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Benny A. Mallon; sister, Sara Doerner; and son-in-law, Gary Hodges. Pallbearers will be Andrew Kervin, Richard Brookshire, Darrell Smith, Brent Harrell, Rod Canon, Zack Kessler, Rowdy Wilson and Kent Henson.
