G. Merleice Henson Wood

Graveside services for G. Merleice Henson Wood, 66, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Calvary Cemetery at Nogalus Prairie in Trinity County with Brother Dave Sarver officiating.

Ms. Wood was born September 11, 1947 in Houston, Texas to the late Merlene and George Henson. She died Friday, August 22, 2014 in a Lufkin nursing facility with her two daughters by her side.

Ms. Wood was most recently employed as a receptionist for Angelina Home Health, and had also worked as a receptionist at PineCrest Retirement Community. She loved watching old movies, growing plants, her bird “Polly,” and her grandchildren. She attended Brothers Keepers Church.

Survivors include her twin daughters, Merlene Wilcox and husband Scott of Lufkin, and Merleice McMullen and husband Brian of Apple Springs; grandson, Robert Colton Townley; granddaughters, Anastasia Wilcox, Emma McMullen, Nikki Wilcox, Samantha McMullen, and Chloe Wilcox; brother and sister-in-law, Hilton and Mary Henson of Diboll; as well as numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
