Janie Lee Taylor Clark

September 6, 1946 — August 16, 2014

Janie Lee Taylor Clark, beloved sister, mother, and aunt was born September 6, 1946 and died August 16, 2014. She was devoted to children having taught elementary school for 46 years in Liberal, KS, Golden, CO, Buena Vista, CO, Diboll, TX, and Lufkin, TX. A graduate of Emporia State Teacher's College, she served on the Kansas Association of Youth Camp Staff for 14 years and maintained her membership until her death. Being a “Kayette” greatly influenced her early life which led to her life of service. She was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church in Lufkin, TX serving on the Christian Education Committee, Choir, and Shepherds. She was Sunday School Coordinator and Play Director at the Buena Vista Congregational United Church of Christ for many years until moving to Lufkin in 2000.

She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Robert Clifford and Alice Jane Brathovde Taylor. She leaves behind two children and their spouses, daughter Kathryn Jane Acosta and Alex Acosta of Greeley, CO and son, Joseph Russell and Danielle Clark of Lufkin, TX; five precious grandchildren, McKinsi, Brooklyn, and Blakely Clark and Patrick and Evelyn Acosta; brothers and sisters, Robert and Anne Taylor of Roseville, CA, Mary and Gary Smith previously of Jefferson, NC now residing in Wellington, FL, Margo and Ron Stewart of Topeka, KS, and Sarah and Bill Strinden of Lufkin, TX. She also leaves behind the wonderful and caring friends and members of First Presbyterian Church and Buena Vista CUCC, her jokers groups, friends and neighbors in Lufkin and Buena Vista, and many, many colleagues and friends with whom she taught over the years.

The family will receive visitors at Carroway Funeral Home Friday, September 5th, 2014 from 6-8 pm. A celebration of Janie's life is planned for Saturday, September 6th, 2014 at 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 607 Jane Way, Lufkin.

A special thanks goes to the Heart to Heart Hospice team. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Early Learning Center, 607 Jane Way, Lufkin, TX 75901.
