John Barringer

Funeral services for John Barringer, 67, of Hudson will be held Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Blackie Cranford officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Largent Cemetery. Mr. Barringer was born April 14, 1947 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Bernice (Barnes) and Taft Barringer. He died Saturday, August 9, 2014 in a Lufkin hospital. Mr. Barringer had owned and operated Loadstar Towing since 1988, and had also been a truck driver. He enjoyed dirt track racing and was an avid motorcycle rider. He loved working, as well as making and fabricating things. Mr. Barringer was a United States Army veteran. He attended Trinity Baptist Church and had lived in the Lufkin area all his life. Survivors include his wife, Mary Barringer of Hudson; daughters, Michelle Barringer Edwards and husband Troy of Lufkin and Christina Barringer Garlington and husband Scott of Pollok; stepsons, Abram Ray Maddox and wife Lisa of Mississippi, Russell Lee Maddox and wife Judy of Diboll, Johnny Ernst of Houston, and Richard Ernst and wife Debbie of Hudson; seventeen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Sarah Ann Morris of Diboll, Virginia Ray Morrison and husband Jim of Etoile, Dixie Barringer of Diboll, and Jessie Lee Martinez of Lufkin; brothers, George Barringer, Edward Taft Barringer, Jr. and wife Joycie, and Danny Barringer, all of Lufkin; special friends, Dennis Wilcox and Nathan Watson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Barringer; and nephew, Allen Barringer. Pallbearers will be Glenn Allen, Kent White, James Ferguson, Joe Mettlen, Bobby Dean Cranford, and Kyle Gragg. Honorary pallbearers will be the wrecker services of Angelina County and the Jolly Seniors of Trinity Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
