Jean Rhinehalt Wareing, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2014 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, with whom she lived in Lufkin, Texas. Jean, previously of Georgetown, had resided in Lufkin for the past seven years.

Graveside services will be held Friday, August 1, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in the Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, Texas, with Reverend Jim Turley officiating.

Jean was born in Maumee, Ohio, on February 18, 1922. She graduated from Maumee High School in 1940 and the Toledo School of Nursing in 1943. Jean joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II, and married Lt. Joel T. Wareing of the Army Air Corps on May 22, 1944. Joe served in the Pacific and Jean at Camp Attaberry, Indiana, until the end of World War II. At the end of the war, Jean resigned her commission and began her wonderful life as wife and mother of three children. Joe and Jean spent 66 wonderful years together. Jean was very proud of her husband’s service in the United States Air Force and later civilian life.

Jean’s life was a devotion to her husband, family, her faith in God, and her generously kind, sweet gentle spirit. Jean loved to laugh and her smile will be long remembered. Jean is survived by her children, Cynthia and Fred Kanke, Roger and Sarah Wareing, and Nancy and Dale Lowe; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joyce Chandler and Mary Ann Rhinehalt; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jean’s family expresses love and gratitude to Amanda Davis, Phyllis Hunt, Lori Parrish, and Carolyn Sowell for their kind devotion and loving hearts each openly gave to Jean. She loved each of you so very much. The family also expresses gratitude to Hospice in the Pines of Lufkin.
