J.L. Emanis

Funeral services for J.L. Emanis, 96, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Yancey officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.       Mr. Emanis was born January 13, 1918 in Center, Texas to Jess and Estella (Abbott) Emanis, and died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at his residence.       Mr. Emanis had resided in Lufkin since 1995. He retired from Fred Tex Machinery in Fredericksburg following 18 years of employment. Mr. Emanis worked with the Angelina County Senior Citizens Center Meals on Wheels Program, where he greatly enjoyed Robyn Hight and his friends there. He was a member of the Lufkin First Assembly of God Church.       Survivors include his daughters, Gayle Ryter and June Frensley, both of Lufkin; sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas Earl and Carolyn Ann Emanis of Spring and Kenneth Wayne Emanis of Lufkin; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Telvie “Aunt Micky” Savell of Florence, Mississippi; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.       He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 67 years, Rachel (Polk) Emanis April 11, 2010; brothers, Carrol Emanis and James Vernon Emanis; and sister, Rita Mankin.       Pallbearers will be Don East, Gene Norton, Charles Savell, Butch Bay, Ray Smith and David Hughes.       The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.       Memories and condolences may be added at www.carrowayfuneralhome.com.             Carroway Funeral Home, Lufkin, directors.
