Lora Bruce Griggs

Funeral services for Lora Bruce Griggs, 75, of Hudson will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bryan Lipscomb officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Griggs was born November 12, 1938 in the Nogalus Prairie Community, Trinity County, Texas to Loraine Ethel (Helton) and Maurice Elias Bruce, and died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Griggs had resided in Hudson for 50 years. She retired as Assistant Manager following 36 years of employment at Sears. Mrs. Griggs enjoyed quilting and sewing, and was an avid deer hunter. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Griggs was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Morris E. Childers and fiancée Johna Adams of Apple Springs; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresia and Gary Jenkins and Charlotte and Sam Huffstetler, all of Hudson; grandchildren, Craig and Jackie Childers, Bruce and Jana Childers, Blake Childers, Bradley Childers and fiancee Crystal Brent, Lori and Sean Boynton, Micheal Jenkins, Loren Huffstetler, Dustin Huffstetler and Jacob Huffstetler; great-grandchildren, Hunter Mrusek, Presley Boynton, Asher Boynton, Emme Boynton, Peyton Boynton, Lexi Jenkins, Calli Childers, Madilyn Childers, Aaliyah Childers and Emilynn Adams; brother-in-law, John Hooper of Corrigan; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doial Albert Griggs; twin sister, Vera Faye Hooper; brothers, Gene Bruce and Billy Bruce; and nephew, John Hooper, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Craig Childers, Bruce Childers, Blake Childers, Bradley Childers, Micheal Jenkins, Jacob Huffstetler, Dustin Huffstetler, and Hunter Mrusek.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sean Boynton, Gary Jenkins and Sam Huffstetler.

The family extends special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Grace Care Center and Hospice in the Pines.
