Etta Fay Mettlen Jennings

Graveside services for Etta Fay Mettlen Jennings, 81, of Diboll, will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Prairie Grove Cemetery with Pastor Charles Moody and Brother Myrton Thompson, Jr. officiating.

Mrs. Jennings was born July 4, 1932 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Eunice (Courtney) and Joe Mettlen. She died Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Trinity Missions of Diboll.

Mrs. Jennings was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and sister. She had lived in Diboll all of her life. Mrs. Jennings enjoyed fishing and making quilts. She loved visits with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. Jennings was a member of Promise Land Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred and Jim Fisher, Judy and Freeman Thompson, all of Diboll, and Cindy and Dee Royce McClelland of Bronson; grandchildren and their spouses, Jimmy Fisher, Michael Fisher, Curtis and Misty Fisher, Myrton, Jr. and Gina Thompson, Bruce Thompson, all of Diboll, Allison and Ronnie Montes of Corrigan, Joe and Kristy Thompson of Lufkin, Danny and Amy Landrum of Madisonville, Glenda and Jeff Norris of Montgomery, Michael and Heather McClelland, Dee Ann and Scott McClelland, all of Bronson, Susan Martin of Diboll, Charles and Whitney Martin, and J.R. and Kayla Martin, all of Broaddus; forty-one great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Norris, Elizabeth Miranda and Katie Pittman, all of Diboll, as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Jennings was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, K.D. Jennings; daughter, Kathy Martin; granddaughter, Elizabeth Jo Anna Felice; sisters, Joyce Sistrunk and Anna Belle McCarty; brother, Cecil Mettlen; and son-in-law, Wayne Felice.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. Jennings’ grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Ave., Lufkin, Texas 75904; or to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Trinity Missions of Diboll and Hospice in the Pines for their loving care and attention.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon Tuesday morning at the funeral home.
