Raul Alvarez Gomez

Mass of Christian Burial for Raul Alvarez Gomez will be held Monday, June 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Deacon Jesus Reyes, celebrant. Interment will follow in Forest Haven Cemetery.

A rosary will be recited on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Gary Trevino officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Alvarez, 67, of Diboll, was born July 8, 1946 in Jalpa, Zacatecas, Mexico, to the late Rosa Gomez and Perfecto Alvarez. He died Friday, June 27, 2014 at his residence in Diboll.

Mr. Alvarez was self-employed. He enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, pool and games, and had played in many pool tournaments. He also loved being with family and friends. Mr. Alvarez was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, San Juanita Serratos Alvarez of Diboll; his children and their spouses, Raul, Jr. and Reyna Dora Edith Alvarez, Nancy and Omar Flores, and Gerardo and Tabitha Alvarez, all of Diboll; grandchildren, Preston Alvarez, Chelsea, Raul III., and Galilea Alvarez, and Omar Jr., Justin, Alexander, Adam, Aidan, and Mason Flores, all of Diboll; great grandchildren, Bella and Julian De La Cruz of Diboll; sisters, Rebeca Alvarez, Rosalina Alvarez, Maria Alvarez, Constancia Alvarez; all of Mexico, and Rosie Bibian of Portland, Oregon; brother, Bibiano Alvarez of Westlaco; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Eduardo Alvarez.

Pallbearers will be Jorge Serratos, Ignacio Serratos III., Carlos Serratos, Javier Martinez Jr., Justin Flores, Bernardo Morales, Omar Flores Jr., and Andy Calvillo.
