Funeral services for Glenn Dale Tomplait, Sr., 79, of Pollok will be held Friday, June 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin with Reverend Joe David Stanley and Reverend John W. Harrell officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
Mr. Tomplait was born August 28, 1934 in Port Arthur, Texas, the son of Joseph and Mautie (King) Tomplait. He died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in a local hospital.
Mr. Tomplait retired from Jefferson Chemical where he was an inside/outside machinist. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin. Mr. Tomplait was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a great storyteller, and loved his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Winnie Tomplait of Pollok; children, Glenda Saxon of Orange, Ronda Cunningham of Fredericksburg, Glenn Dale Tomplait, Jr. and wife Dovie of Orange and Paul Tomplait and wife Jamie of Kirbyville; grandchildren, Ryan Cunningham of Jasper, Celeste Slatter of Riverside, Terrie Hicks of Yukon, Oklahoma, Glenn D. Tomplait III of Bridge City, Winnie D. Copeland of Bridge City, Skyla Crosslin of Pinehurst, Courtney Tomplait of Portland, Oregon, Jace Tomplait of Kirbyville, and Jordan Tomplait of Kirbyville; 10 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jack Tomplait of Groves, Thomas Tomplait of Cambridge, Ohio and Malcolm Tomplait of Porter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mautie Tomplait; brother, Gordan Tomplait; and son-in-law, Kenneth Saxon.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Reneau, Jessie Nash, Ronnie Risenhoover, Jace Tomplait, Douglas Tomplait, Doye Tomplait, Dallon Tomplait and Drek Tomplait.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn D. Tomplait III and Ryan Cunningham.
The family extends thanks to Dr. Carlton Lewis, Dr. Joseph Koch, and the entire staff of Hospice in the Pines - The Inpatient Unit at Memorial Hospital.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin.
