Arthur Howard Malone

Funeral services for Arthur Howard Malone, 82, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Horace Fletcher and Pastor Don Bradshaw officiating. Interment will follow in the McKindree Cemetery.

Mr. Malone was born April 28, 1932 in West Monroe, Louisiana to the late Lorene (Holton) and Thomas Jefferson Malone, and died Sunday, June 22, 2014 in Lufkin.

Mr. Malone had resided in Lufkin most of his life. He was a 1950 graduate of Lufkin High School and a pitcher for the Lufkin Panther baseball team. He played professional baseball for the Washington Senators, and coached Little League Baseball for many years. Mr. Malone served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. While in the service he was on the U.S.S. Cobbler 344 and the U.S. Boxer C.V. 21. Mr. Malone retired as a Sr. Trooper from the Texas Department of Public Safety following 33 years of service. He was a Deacon at Herty Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Martha Malone of Lufkin; daughter, Amy Schultz of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Kriste Malone of Lufkin; grandchildren, Caitlin Lee and husband Jeremiah, Hannah Malone, Mason Malone, Kyle Schellhase and Emily Schultz; great-granddaughters, Caroline and Tesla Lee; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Gayle Malone of Humble; sisters and brother-in-law, Evelyn Malone of Frisco, Jimmie and Don Gathright of Plano, and Myra Higginbotham of Katy; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Mason Malone, Jeremiah Lee, Buddy Mills, Steve Mills, Glenn Malone and Scott Malone.

Honorary pallbearers will be M.C. DeLaney, George Conner, J.E. Driskell, Gene Carter, Dale Nicholson, Kenneth Roach, Denton McCoy, Claud Click and Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Memorial contributions may be made to Herty Baptist Church, 2914 Atkinson Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
