John E. Boyd

Funeral services for John E. Boyd, 86, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Brother Jeff Robinson officiating. Masonic rites will be recited under the auspices of the Lindale Park Masonic Lodge #1347 A.F. & A.M. Interment will follow the services.

Mr. Boyd was born June 10, 1927 in Houston, Texas, and died Thursday, May 29, 2014 in a local hospital.

Mr. Boyd has resided in Lufkin since 1961. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was employed with Texas Foundries for 30 plus years. He enjoyed woodworking and building things, fishing and running his trot lines. Mr. Boyd was a member of the Lindale Park Masonic Lodge #1347 and a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Terry Lynne and Angelo Moreno of Houston; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy Boyd, Ricky Wayne and Demetra Boyd, and Stacy Dean and Anita Boyd, all of Lufkin; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Boyd; mother and stepfather, Mary (Abbott) and Joe O’Farrell; and granddaughter, Stephanie Boyd.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
