Earlene Brock

Funeral services for Earlene Brock, 82, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother D.R. McNaughton officiating. Private family burial will follow the services.

Mrs. Brock was born December 5, 1931 in Crockett, Texas to Samuel N. and Mary (Land) Mayrant, and died Saturday, May 24, 2014 at her residence. Formerly of Crockett and Pasadena, she had resided in Lufkin since 1985.

Mrs. Brock earned a Masters of Education from Sam Houston State University. She had a 50 year career in teaching, the last 9 spent as teacher and principal at St. Patrick Catholic School. Teaching was her life but she did enjoy cooking and hosting friends and loved ones. She was always eager to help anyone who needed it, and was known as Mom to many children who crossed her path. Mrs. Brock was a teacher and mentor of The Word of God, and she demonstrated the Love of God on a daily basis. She was an active member of the Harbor Light Church.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Virgil Brock of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, David and Becky Brock of Lufkin; grandson, Jaden Brock of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings. She was “the baby”.

Pallbearers will be Jaden Brock, Damon McMillan, Logan McMillan, Timothy Moon, Larry Pile and Gary Antley.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
