Virginia Elizabeth (Ginia Beth) Cox Denman

Memorial services for Virginia Elizabeth (Ginia Beth) Cox Denman, 87, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Henderson Chapel at the First United Methodist Church of Lufkin. Interment was in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Denman was born September 3, 1926 in Meridian, Texas, the daughter of Thelma (Elmore) and John P. Cox. She passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in a Lufkin hospice facility.

Mrs. Denman was a graduate of Aquilla High School and Baylor University. At Baylor University, she was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, Pi Gamma Mu, and Phi Gamma Nu (national and international honor organizations). She marrried Joe Carter Denman, Jr. of Lufkin on January 10, 1948. She earned her P.H.T. (Putting Hubby Through) degree at Texas A&M in 1950.

A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, she served as a member of the Board of Stewards as well as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher, and as a member of many church committees. Mrs. Denman was a founding member and past president of the Junior League of Lufkin, of the Angelina Ladies Investment Club, and of the Diboll Garden Club. She was a past president and member of the Wilson McKewen Treatment Center. She served as a board member of the Temple Memorial Library, Community Concert Association, Angelina Tuberculosis Association, Chamber of Commerce Beautification Committee, Diboll Booster Club, and Diboll PTA. Mrs. Denman was a teacher in the Waco area as well as at Hudson Elementary School.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Trey and Sally Denman; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Richard Warner; daughter and son-in-law, G. G. and Troy Tiemann; grandchildren, John Denman, Joe Denman and wife Sara, Ginia Luker and husband Russell, Rich Warner, Rachel Raley and Jarret Raley; and great grandchildren, Hannah Denman, Cash Luker, and Bates Luker.

Mrs. Denman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, Joe Carter Denman, Jr.; and one grandchild, Elizabeth Ann Denman.
