Everett Wayne "Meathook" Johnson

Visitation for Everett Wayne “Meathook” Johnson, 78, of Huntington will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson was born August 8, 1935 in the Shawnee Switch Community of Angelina County, Texas to John D. and Carmen (Fann) Johnson, and died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in a Nacogdoches hospital.

Mr. Johnson resided in Huntington most of his life. He played football at Stephen F. Austin State University. Mr. Johnson owned and operated Johnson International Materials, Inc. and Jim Johnson Ropa Usada for more than 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a good neighbor and a friend to many. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending special time with each one. Mr. Johnson was a member of Huntington First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joan Johnson of Huntington; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Paul Clifton of Huntington and Jan and Rusty Pittman of Brownsville; son and daughter-in-law, Bubba and Christy Johnson of Huntington; grandchildren, Christi and David Flowers, Callie and Mark Hicks, Joshua and Christy Clifton, John Clifton, Lauren Pittman, Ceciley Pittman, Jayme Pittman, Brian Pittman, Lane Johnson, Mary Elizabeth Johnson, John Dee Johnson, Anna Johnson, Brooke Johnson and Laura Henderson; great-grandchildren, Caroline Hicks, Macy Hicks, Aniston Hicks, Cash Clifton and Cadyn Clifton; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Marie Johnson of The Woodlands; nieces, Becky Johnson and Jennifer Lindermann and husband Keith, all of The Woodlands; great-nieces, Abby and Tatum Lindermann of The Woodlands; and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James H. Johnson.
