Earl Hampton Wilson

Funeral services for Earl Hampton Wilson, 81, of Huntington, will be held Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend M.H. Shubert and Brother James Kitchens officiating. Interment will follow in the Ben Walker Cemetery.

Mr. Wilson was born March 13, 1933 in Manning, Angelina County, Texas to the late Cleo Rosa (McCleskey) and Hamp Wilson. He died Friday, May 2, 2014 in a Lufkin nursing facility.

Mr. Wilson was retired from Temple-Eastex, where he worked as a woodyard processor, following 25 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He loved to grow his pine trees, play “42” and spend time with his family. Mr. Wilson was of the Baptist faith and had lived in Huntington most of his life.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, David Wilson, Dan and Carolyn Wilson, and Curtis and Donna Wilson, all of Huntington; grandchildren and their spouses, Kim and Stephen Berthelot of Nacogdoches, Curtis Wilson Jr., Wanda and Thomas Berry, all of Huntington, Shelley Malone of Bryan, Stephanie and David Tucker, and Lee Wilson, all of Huntington; eight great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Theresa Wilson of Huntington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anita Wilson; and brothers, Charles and Johnny Mack Wilson.

Pallbearers will be David Tucker, Thomas Berry, Jeff Smith, Stephen Berthelot, Gary Stokes, Tommy Howard, Lee Wilson, and Curtis Wilson Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Wilson’s great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
