Funeral services for Arthur “A.C.” Warren, 88, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Don Schultheis officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mr. Warren was born February 17, 1926 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to William Lucian and Dollie (Hadaway) Warren, and died Tuesday, April 29, 2014 in a local nursing home.
Mr. Warren was raised in Douglass but resided most of his life in Lufkin. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and retired from Lufkin Industries following 35 years of employment. Mr. Warren was a stock car driver (#8A), golden gloves boxer, and a well known mechanic. He loved his kids and grandkids and enjoyed spending time with family. Mr. Warren was a Board Member of First Church of the Nazarene and President of the Grace Sunday school class.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Robbie Warren of Lufkin; daughters, Dianne Warren Hunter of Lufkin, Elaine Warren Armstrong of Huntington and Kelley Warren Kiambao of Lufkin; grandson, Cullen Dwight Thompson of Lufkin; granddaughters, Deidre Renèe Thompson, Lindsey Ashton Davis, Kai Kiani Duke and husband Michael, Mahala Michelle Ellis, all of Lufkin, and Jennifer Hunter of Plano; great-grandchildren, Corbin Zachary Simpson of Hudson, Case Blayne Thompson of Lufkin, Jewel Tatum Thompson of Huntington, Madison Brooke Davis, Koda Zane Button and Kenai Slade Button, all of Lufkin, and Brayden Hunter of Plano; brother, Sammy L. Warren of The Woodlands; sister, Myrtle Warren Koushell of Bellaire; brothers, Edward Warren of Tyler, Hulon Jerry and Darceille Warren of Lufkin and Jirrel Dean and Eleanor Warren of San Antonio; special friends, Dr. Monique Pierson and Mr. and Mrs. Kendall Moseley; and numerous other relatives and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Colbertson “Cubby” Warren and William Clifford “Bill” Warren.
Pallbearers will be Michael Duke, Kendall Mosley, AL Davis, Jesse Brooks, Kent Johnson and Jerry Wayne Warren.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
