James Richard Youngblood, Sr.

Funeral services for James Richard Youngblood, Sr., 75, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Stephen B. Lantis officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Youngblood was born February 2, 1939 in Lufkin, Texas to A.B. and Hazel Cloteal (Holder) Youngblood, and died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Youngblood was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. He was a member of the marching bands of Lufkin Junior High, Lufkin High School, Texas A&M University and Stephen F. Austin State University. He was a founding member of the Delta Pi Chapter of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity at SFA. Mr. Youngblood was a founding director of Angelina Savings Bank. He worked in commercial real estate management and was a rancher. Mr. Youngblood was a member of First Christian Church Lufkin.

Survivors include his children, James Richard Youngblood, Jr. and wife Deanne of Houston, Anya Youngblood Lundberg of Long Island, New York, John Ben Blackburn and wife Amy of Longview and Susan Harris and husband Michael of Lufkin; grandchildren, Seminole Maria Youngblood, James Dalton Youngblood, Sara Kate Harris, Meg Harris, Richard Noble Lundberg, Jack Blackburn, Alec Braxton Youngblood, and Sophie Blackburn; brothers, Jeff Youngblood and wife Hunter of Spring and Alan Youngblood of Nacogdoches; Rick and Anya’s mother, Victoria DeBlase; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sara Blackburn Youngblood; sister, Sara Crago; and son-in-law, Mark Lundberg.

Pallbearers will be Lee Spencer, Kip Miller, Max Rowe, Alan Youngblood, Jeff Youngblood, Dalton Youngblood, Phillip Pate and Judd Homer David.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Board of Directors of Angelina Savings Bank.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
