Funeral services for Willard Thomas “Will” Scott II, 35, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Pastor Cary Modisett and Pastor Michael Crenshaw officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Cemetery.
Will was born August 23, 1978 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Judy (Williams) and Billy Mason “Bill” Scott, and died Monday, March 31, 2014. He resided in the Lufkin and Nacogdoches areas all his life.
During high school Will began working for Huntington State Bank where he realized his desire to pursue a career in the finance and banking industry. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Stephen F. Austin State University with a major in finance. He remained with Huntington State Bank for 14 years, serving in many capacities, eventually becoming President of the Nacogdoches branch. He was most recently employed at Peltier Chevrolet in Lufkin.
Will believed in giving back to the community. He served on the boards of the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce and the Boys and Girls Club. He was an active participant in Leadership Lufkin and Leadership Nacogdoches. He continually participated in professional training classes and seminars, including Financial Statement Analysis, Advanced Commercial Lending and Advanced Consumer Lending through the Texas Bankers Association, Public Speaking through the Angelina College Small Business Development, The Ultimate Supervisor through Fred Pryor Seminars, Effective Sales Skills, and numerous other banking specific seminars.
Will and Carrie attended the Bethel Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed scuba diving, hunting, grilling, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Lanette Scott of Lufkin; daughters, Bailey Ann Scott of Nacogdoches and Malee Janette Scott of Lufkin; parents, Judy and Scott Morehead of Broaddus; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kim and Jay Choate of Rusk and Jade and Jimmy Thompson of Huntington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Justin and Megan Morehead of Hudson and Cody and Michelle Scott of Huntington; grandmother, Jackie Morehead of Huntington; numerous nieces and nephews; and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Mason “Bill” Scott; and grandparents, Herman and Wanda Williams, Willard Thomas “W.T.” and Rhoda Scott, and T.D. “Boots” Morehead.
Pallbearers will be Cory Cochran, Jason Carrell, Rex Lowery, Bobby Martin, Jon Guerrero and Cody Pierce.
Honorary pallbearer will be Landon Stanley.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Assembly of God Church, 3863 Ted Trout Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
