Dorothine Mcintyre Collins

Funeral services for Dorothine McIntyre Collins, 86, of Lufkin will be held Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with John M. Sirman, Jr. and Reverend Blackie Cranford officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Livingston.

Mrs. Collins was born October 21, 1927 in Livingston, Texas to Roxie (Myers) and Andrew J. “Buck” McIntyre, Sr., and died Sunday, March 24, 2014 in a Houston hospital.

Mrs. Collins attended Livingston schools, Southwestern Business College in Houston, Sam Houston University in Huntsville, and USC in Los Angeles, California. She was a member of Chestnut Drive Baptist Church in Lufkin.

Mrs. Collins worked as a secretary in the office of the City of Livingston for approximately two years. She was executive legal secretary from 1964 to 1973 for James A. Baker III, former Chief of Staff and Secretary of State. She married Thomas Henry Collins May 18, 1973 and they moved to Saudi Arabia. She worked as office manager and personnel director for a Saudi-American company in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia for four years. Upon returning to the United States in 1977, Mrs. Collins was manufacturing coordinator at Merle Norman Cosmetics in Los Angeles, California for 13 years. She retired in 1994 and she and Mr. Collins moved to Lufkin.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Julia and John Myrtis Sirman of Corrigan, grandsons, John M. Sirman, Jr. of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Andrew Sirman and wife Jamie of Pollok; great-grandchildren, Callie Anne Sirman and fiancé Bryce Poncik of Academy, Amanda Beth Sirman of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Corley McIntyre Sirman of Pollok, Katie Rose Sirman of Academy and Carter Mitchell Sirman of Pollok; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas H. Collins; sisters, Dora Anne Bond, Gersie Walding and Doyce McIntyre; and brothers, Thomas McIntyre, Sherman McIntyre, Andrew J. McIntyre, Jr. and Ernest E. McIntyre.

Pallbearers will be Callie Anne Sirman, Amanda Beth Sirman, Corley Sirman, Katie Rose Sirman, Carter Sirman and Bryce Poncik.

Memorial contributions may be made to Chestnut Drive Baptist Church, 1701 S. Chestnut Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901 or the First United Methodist Church of Corrigan, 101 N. Market Street, Corrigan, Texas 75939.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday morning prior to the services.
