Billy E. "Rock" Stone

Funeral services for Billy E. “Rock” Stone, 80, of Huntington will be held Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother John Boone and Brother Mike Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Stone was born October 16, 1933 in Eustace, Texas, the son of the late Sally (Waller) and Leonard Stone. He passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Stone served in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from the Paper Mill in Lufkin in 1996 after 39 1/2 years of employment. He was a member of the 1808 Local Union and made many lifelong friends. His favorite pastimes were fishing, gardening, riding his tractor and “exercising his truck”. He had a great sense of humor and loved to pick at everyone. He will be remembered for his infectious smile. Mr. Stone loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and the great-grands.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Cora Sue Gilbert Stone of Huntington; daughters and sons-in-law, Anola and Ronnie Rook of Huntington and Teresa and Milton Grimes of Zavalla; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Carla Stone, Kip and Tina Stone and Brad and Rhonda Stone, all of Huntington; grandchildren, Torri Adams, Kris Forrest, Ashley Brooks, Michelle Stone, Justin Grimes, Melody Stone, Stoney Stone, Paige Terry, Orrin Pinner, Shelbi Stone and Tracy Rook; 14 great-grandchildren; special friends, Hazel and W.J. Morehead of Huntington; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Stone; and sister, Louise Hines.

Pallbearers will be Scott Adams, Kris Forrest, Justin Grimes, Stoney Stone, Tracy Rook, Orrin Pinner, Brent Reynolds and Jake Terry.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Local 1808 Union of the Paper Mill.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
