Ethel Shivers

Funeral services for Ethel Shivers, 78, of Burke will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kenny Hibbs officiating. Interment will follow in the Ryan Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Shivers was born May 28, 1935 in Huntington, Texas to Earl and Obelia (McGaughey) Sullivan, and died Monday, March 3, 2014 in a local hospital. She was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. Mrs. Shivers was a classy lady, and enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her garden, reading, cooking, and playing 42. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Diboll.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Glen Shivers of Burke; daughter, Sara Martin of Conroe; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Rhonda Shivers of Burke; grandsons, Chad Mitchell and wife Rochelle of San Antonio and Nick Mitchell of Houston; granddaughters, Kimberli Mettlen and husband David, Hope Shivers, Callie Shivers and Courtney Shivers, all of Diboll; great-grandchildren, Ashley Mitchell, Pistol Ducharme, both of San Antonio, Felicity Mettlen, Alexa Mettlen, Levi Mettlen, Cash Morgan, Rance Shivers and J.J. Shivers, all of Diboll; sisters, Shirley Evans and husband David of Woodville and Lois Reppond of Diboll; special niece, Miriam Thornhill of Diboll; sister-in-law, Lois Sullivan of Groveton; close family friends, Neil and Linda Mitchell of Lufkin; special friend, Lacey Mitchell; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bill Sullivan and Glen Sullivan.

Pallbearers will be David Mettlen, Wayne Wright, Joel Lopez, Zachary Morgan, Colby Biggs, Randall Farley, Nathan Terrell and Rolston McDuffie.

Honorary pallbearer will be Phillip Chapman.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904 or the Joe W. Elliott Hospitality House, 220 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
