Luther Charles "L.C." Jones

Funeral services for Luther Charles “L.C.” Jones, 85, of Pollok will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Keith Woolf officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was born September 28, 1928 in Acuff, Texas to James Carl and Maynard Irene (Butler) Jones, and died Sunday, February 16, 2014 in a local nursing home.

Mr. Jones had resided in the Lufkin area since 1964. He owned and operated the Jones Mobil Station for many years, and after retirement he delivered prescriptions for The Medicine Shoppe. Mr. Jones was a member of O’Quinn Missionary Baptist Church, and previously served as Deacon at Kelty’s First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Nellie Jones of Pollok; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanie and Mike Alexander of Bullard and Joy and Collis Modisette of Pollok; grandsons and spouses, Jon and Melissa Alexander of Tyler, David and Carley Alexander of Issaquah, Washington, Brent and Jessica Modisette and Wade and Angie Modisette, all of Lufkin; nine great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Buddy and Barbara Jones of Chireno, Dean and Faye Jones of Lufkin, and Jerry Jones of Emory; sister, Betty Jones Ellis of Duncan, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Carla Jones St. Pierre, Grace Jones Brookshire and Frances Jones Walsh.

Pallbearers will be Mike Alexander, Collis Modisette, Jon Alexander, Brent Modisette, Wade Modisette, David Alexander and Kenny Modisette.

The family extends special thanks to Jeanne and Kenny Modisette, Larkspur Continuing Care, Hospice in the Pines, and the M.D. Anderson Head and Neck Unit for their loving care.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
