Funeral services for Cletis Wells Fuller, 94, of Etoile will be held Monday, February 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with interment following the services. Brother Dale Jackson and Brother Aubrey Knox will officiate.

Mrs. Fuller was born September 5, 1919 to the late Charles B. and Pearl (Hayes) Wells, and died Friday, February 14, 2014 in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Fuller was a survivor of the New London School explosion. She resided in Lufkin most of her life, and was employed with the Lufkin Industries Engineering Department for 41 years. Mrs. Fuller had been a member of Lufkin’s First Baptist Church since the early 1940s and was currently in the Homebound Sunday school class. She participated for many years in the Lufkin Birthday Bunch and the First Baptist Church 42 Bunch.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mark Pope of Etoile; grandsons, Greg Pope and wife Amber of Houston and Ryan Pope and wife Michelle of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Kylie Pope of Houston, Cade Pope of San Augustine, Landon Pope, Austin Landers and Carly Landers, all of Lufkin; sisters-in-law, Gloria Wells of Point and Mary Fuller of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy Fuller; sister, Doris Wells, killed in the New London School explosion at age 13; brother, Lamar Wells; brother-in-law, Lester Fuller; and nephew, Alan Fuller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Garrett, Don Smith, Richard Thompson, Howard Daniel and Glendon Sanders.

Posthumous honorary pallbearers are Sam Kaemmerling, Robert Poland, Don Hearne, Dr. W.D. Thames, Charles Coble and Dub Pope.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday morning at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel.
