Emmett Delafosse

Funeral services for Emmett DeLaFosse, 90, of Lufkin will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Reverend Elton Musick officiating. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Chita Cemetery in Trinity County.

Mr. DeLaFosse was born June 25, 1923 in Magnolia, Texas to Laura Corine (Bowman) and Emmett DeLaFosse, Sr., and died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 in a local nursing home. He had resided in Lufkin for 25 years.

Mr. DeLaFosse served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the 7th Calvary in the European Theatre under General George Patton. Mr. DeLaFosse owned a horse equipment manufacturing company for 25 years and in 1987 served as President of the California State Horsemen’s Association. Mr. DeLaFosse was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Estella DeLaFosse of Lufkin; daughters, LaNiece Byron, Tommye Wright, both of Corrigan, and Laura Denman of Kennard; son and daughter-in-law, Emmett A. and Dorene DeLaFosse of San Dimas, California; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons-in-law, Harold Byron and Leroy Wright; grandson, Bubba Byron; granddaughter, Vicki Wright Frankens; brothers, Arval DeLaFosse, and Coke DeLaFosse; and sister, Beatrice Pruitt.

Pallbearers will be Emmett A. DeLaFosse, Jimmy Wright, Chad Wright, Wes Denman, Jasen DeLaFosse, Chaz DeLaFosse, and Wyatt Frankens.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Pruitt, Phil DeLaFosse and Charles DeLaFosse.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Grace Baptist Church.
