Joan (Mcgaughey) Largent

Funeral services for Joan (McGaughey) Largent, 66, of Lufkin, formerly of Huntington, will be held Sunday, February 2, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lamar Denby officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery.

Ms. Largent was born November 16, 1947 in Lufkin, Texas to Delton Lynwood and Vera Lee (Clark) McGaughey, and died Thursday, January 30, 2014 in a local hospital.

Ms. Largent had resided in Lufkin for 12 years, but she always considered Huntington to be her home. She had worked as a bookkeeper for the Lufkin Daily News and was a member of the Highway Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Leigh Anne Largent and Ryan and Shannon Largent, all of Hudson; granddaughter, Anna Denby of Hudson; grandsons, Dakota Largent, Jackson Largent, William Cooper Largent, Justin Largent and Jacob Largent, all of Hudson; mother, Vera Lee McGaughey of Hudson; brother and sister-in-law, Malcom and Susie McGaughey of Victoria; nephew, Jason McGaughey and wife Amber of Huntington; nieces, Jennifer Henderson and husband James of Pineland and Melissa Patterson and husband Mark of Victoria; and a number of other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father and nephew, Kenny McGaughey.

Pallbearers will be Larry Denman, Frank Clark, Richard Clark, Royce McGaughey, Steve Clark, David McGaughey, Lynwood McGaughey and Lynn Denman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kent Allen McGaughey, Billy Truett, Rhett Clark, Gary Clark, Phillip McGaughey, Dale McGaughey, Jerry McGaughey, Bud White, Phil Clark and Keith McGaughey.

The family extends special thanks to Lexington Place in Rusk, Parkwood Place, Castle Pines, Woodland Heights Hospital and Lufkin Memorial Hospital for the care given to Ms. Largent over the years.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon prior to the services.
