L.D. “Don” Swank
Funeral services for L.D. “Don” Swank, 87, of Huntington, will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Danny Cryer officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Jonesville Cemetery.
Mr. Swank was born October 24, 1926 in Hoquiam, Washington to the late Marie (Frank) and Samuel Swank. He died Friday, January 10, 2014 in a Texas Veterans’ Home located in Floresville, Texas.
Mr. Swank retired from the United States Navy following 20 years of service, and continued to work as a mechanic for the Navy as a Civil Service employee. He loved to restore old tractors and cars, was a great photographer, and loved to travel. Mr. Swank liked to talk and never met a stranger. He attended First Ora Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia Youngblood Swank of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Travis Teboe of Cibolo, Texas; grandsons, Tyler Merolla of San Antonio, James Chester and wife Catherine of San Antonio; as well as numerous cousins and other family members.
Mr. Swank was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Judy Swank; sisters, Evelyn and Mauvis Swank; and brother, Gerry Swank.
Pallbearers will be James Moore, James Chester, Travis Teboe, Billy Porter, and Danny Cutshaw.
Honorary pallbearer will be Tyler Merolla.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
