Funeral services for Steven Maxwell Evans, Sr., 54, of Slocum will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Fred Evans, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.
Mr. Evans was born August 17, 1959 in Houston, Texas, and died Monday, January 6, 2014 in a Tyler hospital. He had resided in Slocum for two years.
Mr. Evans worked in the family plumbing business in Houston. He was also experienced in hardwood floor covering, and had worked for his father-in-law in Birmingham, Alabama.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Evans of Slocum; sons, Steven Evans, Jr. of Moody, Alabama and Shawn Evans of Slocum; grandchildren, Autumn Evans, Tyler Evans and Bethany Evans, all of Moody, Alabama; parents, Fredrick and Christene (Griggs) Evans of Slocum; sisters, Kerry Evans of Georgetown, Nikki Evans and Ashlyn Evans, both of Slocum; brothers, Charles Evans of Slocum and Fred Evans, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Louisville, Kentucky; nephews, Kevin Grubbs of Georgetown and David Grubbs of Forney; niece, Kristy Bowden of Bradbury, California; and a number of other nieces, nephews and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Robert Earl and Ann Warren.
Pallbearers will be Blake Ford, David Grubbs, Kevin Grubbs, Todd Bowden, Kyle Grubbs and Courtney Warren.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Friday morning prior to the services.
