Mary E. "Ellie" Thornton

Funeral services for Mary E. “Ellie” Thornton, 29, of Huntington will be held Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Dr. Darryl Smith and Brother Joe Sawyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Jonesville Cemetery.

Ellie was born April 17, 1984 in Jasper, Texas to John Bruce and Mary Lue (Wagner) Thornton, and died Monday, December 30, 2013 in a local hospital. She was a lifetime resident of Huntington and a member of the Huntington First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Thornton of Huntington; aunt, Barbara Tolbert of New Caney; and numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Thornton; grandparents, Orie M. and Frances Wagner and J.J. and Verna Thornton; and uncle, Donald Truex.

Pallbearers will be David Holland, Jr., Theodore Perez, Sr., Scott Widenhouse, Terry Smith, Ted Ivy and Fred Duggan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Moody, Jr., Gary Thornton, Jerone Harper, Justin Donnell, and her babies, Buster Roo, Baby Girl, Tootsie, Whiskers, Booger Bear and Spark Plug.

Contributions may be made to the Mary Ellen Thornton Fund at Huntington State Bank.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Friday morning prior to the services.
