Robert Collins, Sr.

Funeral services for Robert Collins, Sr., 67, of Huntington will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greater Love Tabernacle (formerly Homer UPC) with Brother Harold A. McInnis and Brother Ronnie Frankens officiating. Interment will follow in the Herrington Cemetery.

Mr. Collins was born March 27, 1946 in Houston, Texas to Bobby Gene and Evelyn (Anderson) Collins, and died Sunday, January 5, 2014 in a local hospice facility. He had resided in Huntington for 52 years. Mr. Collins served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Owens-Illinois. He loved western movies, watching football, hunting, fishing and fixing up old cars. Mr. Collins was a member of the Ora United Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Collins of Huntington; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharla and Jon Crain and Shanna and Charles Putnam, all of Huntington; son, Jason Palacios of Lufkin; daughter-in-law, Melissa Collins of Zavalla; grandchildren, Jared Bryan and fiancée Christal of Huntington, Amber Weiss and husband Michael of Silsbee, Kaylin Means, Travis Putnam, Rachel Putnam, and Dylan Collins, all of Huntington; great-grandsons, Lucas Weiss of Silsbee, Christian Kerr and Jace Kerr, both of Huntington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Harold Stanbery and Linda and David Thornhill, all of Huntington; special niece and caretaker, Kristi Dickson of Huntington; aunt, Jo Butler of Lufkin; special pet dog, Trixie; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Butch Collins.

Pallbearers will be Sgt. Major Truman Stanbery, Harold Stanbery, Eric Stanbery, Troy Stanbery, Adam Womack, Chris Harrison, Peyton Carroll and Colton Cryer.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, as well as Jason Palacios, David Thornhill, Kevin Thornhill, Willie Griffith, Charles Putnam and Jon Crain.
