Memorial services to honor the life of Clayton Dark, Sr., 88, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the PineCrest Retirement Community Chapel with Dr. Andrew G. Pittman officiating. Interment will be held Thursday, December 26, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sharp Cemetery in Rockdale, Milam County, Texas.
Mr. Dark was born December 11, 1925 to the late Archie Clayton and Viola (Baynes) Dark. He passed this life Sunday, December 22, 2013 at the PineCrest Retirement Community. He was a longtime resident and independent insurance agent of Amarillo, and a resident of Lufkin for the preceding eight years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II and was a member of Lufkin’s First Baptist Church at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Bonnelle Dark of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Clayton, Jr. and Felicia Dark of Lufkin and Richard and Karen Dark of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Clay Dark III, John Dark, Kathryn Hart, Rebecca Dark, David Dark and Daniel Dark; step-grandchildren, Christi Rowe, Clint Oliver and Clay Oliver; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clyde; and sisters, Virginia and Berniece.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Richard Roby, Jr., the staff and employees of PineCrest Retirement Community, and Hospice in the Pines.
