Funeral services for Jay Rush, 30, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Denman Avenue Baptist Church with Brother Charles M. Roberts and Kyle Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Jay was born July 28, 1983 in Lufkin, Texas, and died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Jay was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and a 2001 graduate of Lufkin High School. He served six years in the U.S. Army National Guard and was employed with the Pipeliners Local Union 798. He was in Tulsa pursuing his welder’s certification. Jay was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents, Gary and Sherry (Dunn) Rush of Lufkin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ashley and Michael McCarty of Lufkin and Paige and John Wolf of Montgomery; grandmother, Lillian Dunn of Lufkin; grandfather, Allen “Buddy” Rush of Burke; nieces who called him “Jay Boy”, Remi Wolf of Montgomery, Morgan McCarty, Kylie McCarty, Marley McCarty, Calyn McCarty, all of Lufkin, and Julia Mokkonen of Finland; nephew, Max Wolf of Montgomery; uncles and aunts, Allen and Amy Rush and Jimmy and Pam Dunn, all of Lufkin; aunt and uncle, Amy and Chris Benton of Pearland; cousins, Christopher Rush, Cora Rush, both of Lufkin, Sara Benton of Pearland, Amber Dunn, Marcie Dunn and Aaron Dunn, all of Lufkin; and numerous other cousins, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James M. Dunn; grandmother, Arah Vest Rush; and nephew, John Wolf IV.
Pallbearers will be Bogie Jared Bogenschutz, Jared Sprague, Jordan Pachicano, Kyle Gilbert, Robert Beavers, Randy Harlan, Jay Durham and Taylor Mercer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jared Pigg, Ritchie Hayes, Jake Anderson, Luke Anderson, Matt Hedberg, and the Local Union 798 Pipeliners.
