Funeral services for Jason Lee Cook will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Lowery officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Porter Springs Cemetery in Crockett following the services.
A devoted husband, loyal friend, avid outdoorsman, and respected business leader, Jason Lee Cook, 36, of Montrose, Colorado died November 29, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained in an airplane accident north of Delta, Colorado.
Jason was born September 15, 1977 in Lufkin, Texas to Danny and Mary Presley Cook. His childhood and school years were spent in Crockett and Lufkin.
Jason graduated in 1996 from Hudson High School. Earning a scholarship, Jason attended Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, graduating in 2000 with double major in Information Technology and Business Administration. Jason met the love of his life, and future wife, Lillian Vorisek at SAU. Following college, Jason and Lil moved to Montrose, Colorado. They were married on July 8, 2000 in Lake City, Colorado.
Jason was the Technology Coordinator with Montrose County School District Re-1J from 2000-2004. While working in the school district, Jason started the Snowboard Club at Montrose High School.
Lillian launched One Track Communications in 2002, and Jason joined the firm in 2004. Together, as they did everything, Lil and Jason built One Track Communications into a highly successful and growing business, earning bids on large jobs in Montrose, Aspen, Durango, and Cortez.
Jason worked hard, but played harder. He was an extreme and gifted athlete in all he endeavored, including cross country running, snowboarding and motocross racing. Jason will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing, working, or playing with him.
Jason is survived by his wife, Lillian Cook of Montrose, Colorado; parents, Danny and Mary Presley Cook of Lufkin; brother, Joel Lynn Cook and wife Saudade of Nacogdoches; brother, Justin Alexander Cook of Lufkin; niece, Keira Lynn Cook of Nacogdoches; grandparents, Bob and Marjorie Presley of Garland; grandparents, Betty and Tex Roberson of Etoile; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Jason was preceded in death by his grandfather, Martin Alexander Cook; grandmother, Mary M. Cook; and uncle, Edgar Thomas (Ronnie) Cook.
Pallbearers will be Joel Cook, Justin Cook, Bryan Finch, Kory Waggoner, David Almond and Joshua Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be Otis Almond, Bobby Parker, Jr., William A. Presley, Jeffery Presley (USAF) and Ryan Walters.
Memorial contributions may be made to a scholarship in the name of Jason Cook with the Montrose Community Foundation, P.O. Box 3020, Montrose, CO 81402, or in Jason Cook’s name with Wells Fargo banks.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
