Randy Hammer

Funeral services for Randy Hammer, 64, of Huntington, will be held Monday, December 2, 2013 at 12 noon in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Kelly David Farmer officiating. Interment will follow in Jonesville Cemetery.

Mr. Hammer was born November 5, 1949 in Hayes, Kansas to Edna (Allen) and Odis Denton Hammer. He died Friday, November 29, 2013 in a Lufkin hospital.

Mr. Hammer was a Field Manager for Texas Trans Eastern and had lived in Huntington for the past 27 years. He loved to write books and was also a great landscape artist. He also enjoyed reading sci-fi books.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Suzan Hammer of Huntington; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Bethany Hammer of Granbury; granddaughter, Skyler Hammer of Friendswood; father and stepmother, Odis and Versie Hammer of Zavalla; sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Paul Tinsley of Huntington; brothers, Harold Hammer of Pasadena, Dave Hammer of Lufkin; and nieces and nephews, Shera Tinsley of San Antonio, Holly Tinsley of Friendswood, Tim Hammer of Austin, Laura Hammer of Houston, Michael Hammer of Pasadena, and Reanna Hammer of Friendswood.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Hammer, and a brother, Lloyd Hammer.

Pallbearers will be Laura Hammer, Shannon Smith, Paul Tinsley, Michael Hammer, Zack Hopson and Tim Hammer.

Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Chapman.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
