Walker B. Clifton

Funeral services for Walker B. Clifton, 89, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Dr. Walter Futch officiating. Interment will follow at 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the Bethel Cemetery in Appleby.

Mr. Clifton was born June 18, 1924 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to the late Laura Bell (Davis) and Charlie Clifton. He died Thursday, November 28, 2013 in a Lufkin hospice facility.

Mr. Clifton was a retired welder, and owned and operated Clifton’s Welding for 19 years. He had also worked for Lufkin Industries as a welder in the Foundry Department for 24 years. Mr. Clifton served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He enjoyed gardening and yard work, liked to cook, especially cakes and cookies, and also enjoyed watching football and baseball. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and had lived in Lufkin for the past 50 years.

Survivors include his wife, Iva Clifton of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Roland Brown of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Debbie Clifton of Huntington; grandchildren and their spouses, Christi and David Flowers of Huntington, Callie and Mark Hicks of Lufkin, Josh and Christy Clifton of Huntington, Emily and Mark Leeder of Mountain Home, Idaho, and J. P. Clifton of Nacogdoches; great grandchildren, Caroline Hicks, Macy Hicks, Declan Leeder, Cash Clifton, Cadyn Clifton and Kaelyn Leeder; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hollis and Barbara Clifton, J.W. and Sarah Clifton, all of Nacogdoches; sister, Blanche French of Vivian, Louisiana; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and pet dog, Breezy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, T.H., Herman, Charles, Raymond, Earl, Leon and Willie Clifton; and sisters, Delta Berryhill, Ruby Greening and Bonnie Lee Honea.

Pallbearers will be Mark Skeeters, Bob Skeeters, Mike Skeeters, Stephen Jacobs, Randy McLain and Charlie Wayne McLain.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 2909 East Lufkin Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
