Karen Lee Brasher

Funeral services for Karen Lee Brasher, 49, of Huntington will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Huntington First Baptist Church with Dr. Darryl Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening prior to the services.

Services will also be held Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Houston River Baptist Church in Sulphur, Louisiana with Sr. Pastor Lonnie Gothrup officiating. Interment will follow in the Mimosa Pines Garden of Memories in Sulphur, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the services.

Ms. Brasher was born May 8, 1964 in Sulphur, Louisiana, and died Sunday, November 24, 2013 at her residence. She had been employed with Lufkin Industries for six years. Ms. Brasher enjoyed crafting and traveling. She loved animals and the outdoors, and liked fishing and camping at the lake. She also enjoyed canoeing, and other water sports. She loved her family and enjoyed family gatherings. Ms. Brasher was a member of the Red Hat Society and “TOPS”. She was a member of Huntington First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her mother, Remona (Johnson) Brasher of Huntington; sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Willie Ricks of Huntington; brothers, Ricky Brasher of Lufkin and Keith Brasher of Greensboro, North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Missy Brasher of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Addie Ware of Lufkin; nieces and nephews and spouses, Tonya Ricks and Glynis Nerren of Houston, Todd and Carrie Ricks, Heather and Justin Terry, Ray and Misty Ricks, Shawn and Alissa Ricks, all of Huntington, Lauren and Chris Stutler of Ft. Hood, and Michelle Rogers of Lufkin; great-nephews and great-nieces, who she was a special and loved aunt to, Jeremy and Jennifer Ricks, Annabelle and T.J. Ricks, Tori and Gunner Terry, Jacob and Ryan Stutler, Dylan and Jasmine Wallace, Preston and Peyton Ricks, and Dallas Smith; uncles and aunts, Larry and Sara Brasher of Warrior, Alabama, Betty Allen of Florence, Alabama, and T.J. and Joan Johnson of Sulphur, Louisiana; special cousins, Vickie and Ronnie Parker of Sulphur, Louisiana, Sonya Jackson and Kristen Boshell, both of Alabama; special friends, Sue Landers and Martha Powers; and her furbabies, Lucy and Molly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ted Allen Brasher; brother, Randy Brasher; nephew, Adam Brasher; dog, Sadie; and cat, Tiger.

Pallbearers will be Ray Ricks, Shawn Ricks, Todd Ricks, Justin Terry, Jeremy Ricks, Michael Johnson, Mark Johnson, Keith Brasher and Dylan Wallace.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Stutler, Daniel “Worm” Phipps, members of the Red Hat Society, and the TOPS Ladies.
