Guadalupe "Wally" Mendoza

Mass of Christian Burial for Guadalupe “Wally” Mendoza, 52, of Pollok will be held Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Joe Kannampuzha officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Mendoza was born December 12, 1960 in Raymondville, Texas to the late Celia (Cavazos) and Fidel Mendoza, Sr., and died Monday, November 11, 2013 in a Houston hospital.

Mr. Mendoza had resided in Pollok for eight years and was employed with Lufkin Industries. He loved to fish, camp, and have bar-be-ques. He collected model cars, enjoyed dancing and singing karaoke, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Mendoza was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Zulema Cantu Mendoza of Pollok; daughter, Natalie Nicole Mendoza of Pollok; son, Guadalupe Mendoza, Jr. of Pollok; grandchildren, Nicholas Ivan Cabrera and Adrian Tristrian Cabrera; sisters and brothers-in-law, Beatrice Loya of Lufkin, Norma Lee Castillo and Erasto Hernandez of Lyford, Maria Doris Hernandez of San Antonio, Nelda and Catarìno Rodriguez of Lyford, and Sandra and Kent Lee of Brownsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Irineo and Angie Mendoza of Lufkin, Fidel, Jr. and Hilda Mendoza of Combes, Roberto and Linda Mendoza of Wells, Eduardo and Ginny Mendoza of Beaumont, and George and Delia Mendoza of McAllen; sisters-in-law, Linda Mendoza and Herminia Mendoza; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mendoza was preceded in death by his sister, Dora Mendoza; brothers, Alfredo Mendoza and Jose Mendoza; and brother-in-law, Victor Loya.

Pallbearers will be Irineo Mendoza, Fidel Mendoza, Jr., George Mendoza, Roberto Mendoza, David Peña and Eduardo Mendoza.

Honorary pallbearer will be Ernesto Cantu.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Carroway Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
