John Douglas Kondroik, Sr., 75, of Lufkin died Tuesday, November 5, 2013 in Lufkin. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Services will be held at a later date at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Loranger, Louisiana.
Mr. Kondroik was born August 24, 1938 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Alexander John Kondroik and Edna (Parr) Kondroik. He was a devoted Christian who worshipped his Lord at Denman Avenue Baptist Church.
After graduating from Delgado College in New Orleans, Mr. Kondroik became a millwork designer. He worked on many restoration projects in the city and throughout Louisiana. His favorite project was the Rosedown Plantation in St. Francisville, Louisiana.
John and his family moved to East Texas in 1978. The move necessitated a career change, and he found his niche in sales. He was employed by Houston based Grocery Supply Company, Inc. where he worked until his retirement in 2003.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne (Short) Kondroik of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, John Douglas, Jr. and Candace Kondroik of Lufkin; grandson, John Douglas “Jay” Kondroik III of Lufkin; granddaughter, Jordan Elise Kondroik of Lufkin; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
