Viola Rodrigues

Funeral services for Viola Rodrigues, 83, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bryan Lipscomb officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery.

Mrs. Rodrigues was born December 14, 1929 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to Dick and Annie Lazarine, and died Thursday, October 31, 2013 in a local nursing home. She had resided in Lufkin for 72 years.

Mrs. Rodrigues worked with Special Education students at Lufkin ISD for 16 years. She had been a member of the Arthritis Foundation since 1981 and was the coordinator for the Lufkin Arthritis Support Group. She was a volunteer for Hospice in the Pines. Mrs. Rodrigues was a member of Providence Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School class. She taught Sunday School from 1955-1998. Mrs. Rodrigues loved her family dearly. She was a great mother and grandmother and was very proud of her family.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ronnie Stanbery of Lufkin; son, Frank John Rodrigues, Jr. of Conroe; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Bruce Oliver of Nacogdoches; grandchildren and their spouses, Kristi and Donny Webb, Stefani Willmon, Keri and Micah Williams, Shannon and Javier Horta, Jackie and Garry Hults, Kara and Randal Cooper, and Luke Oliver; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Lois Molandes, Earline Ramos, and Louise and John Foster; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank John Rodrigues, Sr.; sister, Marie Lout; brother, Dennis Lazarine; and grandson-in-law, Eric Willmon.

Pallbearers will be Luke Oliver, Carter Willmon, Logan Webb, Britt Williams, Anthony Haltmar and Javier Horta.

Honorary pallbearers will be Donny Webb, Micah Williams, Garry Hults and Randal Cooper.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
