Senior Airman Cody Shane Hooks

Funeral services for Senior Airman Cody Shane Hooks, 21, of San Antonio will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. D. Nick Sholars officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery.

Cody passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013. He was born in Longview, Texas February 20, 1992 to Rhonda Woodard-Hooks and Ricky Hooks, Sr.

Cody spent his early years in Austin, Texas. His family later moved to South Texas, where he graduated from McAllen High School in 2010. While at McAllen High, he was involved in the ROTC program, receiving his highest title as Captain Hooks. He then entered into the United States Air Force Security Forces at Lackland Air Force Base. He was deployed to Kuwait prior to returning to Lackland Air Force Base to serve with the 802nd Security Forces squadron.

Cody always had the desire to serve in the military from an early age. He was always helping others and never met a stranger.

Survivors include his mother, Rhonda Hooks of Lufkin; father, Ricky Hooks of Gladewater; brother and sister-in-law, Ricky, Jr. and Johnna Hooks of Bryan; sister, Savannah Woodard of Lufkin; grandmother and grandfather, Patsy and Thomas Stewart of Carthage; uncles and aunts, Warren and Melisa Kirkland, Robert and Mui Woodard, all of Lufkin; as well as a number of cousins and other relatives.

Cody was preceded in death by his grandparents, Karen and Woody Woodard, and Ralph Hooks.
