Funeral services for Rev. R.G. “Bud” Davis, Jr., 73, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Pentecostal Campground Tabernacle with Pastor Joe Stanley, Rev. Billy Stanley, Rev. Kevin Prince and Dr. Greg Coon officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
Rev. Davis was born October 11, 1939 in Diboll, Texas to Bennie Bell (Allen) and Rev. R.G. Davis, Sr., and died Monday, October 7, 2013 in Nacogdoches. He was a lifetime resident of Lufkin.
Rev. Davis was a barber, and a member of the National Guard. He served as pastor of the First United Pentecostal Church in Lufkin for 24 years. He was a fox hunter and deer hunter for recreation. He was an exceptional father, compassionate friend, and a loving and devoted husband. A Man Among Men.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Maxine Davis of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Randy Seamans of Rockwall, Lori and Greg Coon of Lufkin and Melody and Patrick Smith of Huntington; grandsons, Kalin Seamans of Sunnyvale, Skyler Seamans and wife Tori of Dallas, Chaston Coon of Lufkin and Ian Seamans of Rockwall; sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Charles Modisette of Lufkin, Winnie and Glenn Tomplait of Allentown, Bettie and Joe Powell of Central, Shirlene and Reagan Kelsey of Allentown and Gloria and Tracy King of Navasota; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jerry Lynn Davis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Glennie Ray and Rev. H.O. Luce, Rev. Roy Miller, Rev. Thomas Swan, Rev. Butch Allen, and Wanda and Robert Towns.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Gibson, James Cosby, Sonny Ashby, David Ashby, Bubby Sanderson, Jessie Nash, Trent Loper and Wayne Rice.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chance Nash, Chad Nash, Kristopher Sanderson, Jonathan Whitemore and Joshua Reneau.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin, 3200 S. Medford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin.
