Funeral services for J.W. “Pee Wee” Smith, 86, of Homer will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born March 22, 1927 in Nacogdoches County, Texas to the late James Ernest and Allie (Danley) Smith, and died Monday, September 30, 2013 in a local nursing home. He had resided in Lufkin most of his life and retired from the Trailer Division of Lufkin Industries. He loved buying and selling cars. Mr. Smith was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Norma Smith of Homer; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and John Huber of Central; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark Smith of Homer, Michael and Judy Smith of Apple Springs and Roger and Mary Smith of Austin; grandchildren, Holly Larabee, Jonathan Huber, both of Central, Rhett Smith of Lufkin, Derek Smith of San Antonio, Desirae Allen of Burke and Collin Smith of Austin; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Coy Smith, Rhett Smith, Derek Smith, James Lumpkin, Norman Poteet and Tommy Parker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Huber and Collin Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, East Texas Regional Office, 304 N. Raguet Street, Suite C, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
