Funeral services for W.A. “Sprout” Terry, 89, of Huntington, will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend M.H. Shubert and Reverend R.D. “Bud” Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Homer Cemetery.
Mr. Terry was born September 1, 1924 in Homer, Angelina County, Texas to the late Nellie Francis (Graham) and Dutch Terry. He died Sunday, September 22, 2013 in a Huntington nursing facility.
Sprout was a long-time resident of Homer, Texas, but spent the last several years in Huntington. He loved to hunt and travel to Colorado to fish. He took pride in his work as a tile setter. He enjoyed riding and raising horses, playing 42, and going to church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Patton Terry of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Joe Haskins of Maryland; stepson and daughter-in-law, Jim and Gloria Jones of Texas; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Ruby and Kippy Hopson of Texas; three grandchildren, Tanya Dowdy, Tresia Diaz, and Wade Haskins; seven step-grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Mr. Terry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; one son; and one daughter.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Westbrook, Oval Terry, Kris Hopson, Newton Terry, Elvin “Buddy” Lowery, Ted Ivy, Scott Morehead, and Leonard Crain.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kippy Hopson, James Jones, Lee Hayes, Curtis Spivey, Travis Morehead, and James Thornton.
The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Lenin Pinnamaneni, Huntington Health Care and Rehabilitation, and Affinity Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
