Funeral services for Sylvia Pickett Hart, 70, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Elton Musick officiating. Interment will follow in Bennett Cemetery in Trinity County.
Mrs. Hart was born February 16, 1943 in Beaumont, Texas to the late Enid (McNeil) and Dewey Pickett. She died Sunday, September 15, 2013 in a Lufkin hospice facility.
Mrs. Hart had lived in Apple Springs most of her life, and was a former librarian for the Apple Springs ISD. She graduated from Vidor High School, attended Sam Houston State University, and had an Associate’s Degree in Library Science.
Survivors include her children, Donald Smith Hart, Jr., and girlfriend Audrey O’Berry of Apple Springs, Carla Davidson and husband John of Apple Springs, and Carmen Hart of Apple Springs; sisters, Sabrina Pickett Smith and husband Scottie of Torrington, Wyoming, and Darlene Pickett Haynes of Vidor; granddaughters, Addyson Hart, Ashley Rhodes, and Mikayla Davidson, all of Apple Springs; Audrey’s daughters, Amy Beth Pyle and Amanda Pyle; lifelong friend, Sueanne Callahan of Lufkin; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald Smith Hart, Sr.
Pallbearers will be John Davidson, Les Stone, Houston Haynes, Sam Anderson, Carleton Callahan and Roger Sanders.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Martin, Phil Witt, John Folsom and Chase Suggs.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
