Clarence Ray Huggins, Sr.

Funeral services for Clarence Ray Huggins, Sr., 83, of Lufkin, will be held Sunday, September 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Steve Killam officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells.

Mr. Huggins was born March 17, 1930 in Wildhurst, Cherokee County, Texas to the late Etta Josephine (Kilgore) and John Thomas Huggins. He died Thursday, September 5, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Huggins was a retired Revenue Agent for the Internal Revenue Service, following 30 years of service. He served his country in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving on the USS Midway aircraft carrier. Mr. Huggins was an avid golfer and a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. He had lived in Lufkin for the past 49 years.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Judy Huggins of Lufkin; sons and daughter-in-law, Ray and Tina Huggins of Longview, Richard Huggins of Katy; grandchildren and spouses, Vee and Wayne Haney of Winnsboro, Rae Ann and Jared Ledbetter of Lufkin, Amy Huggins of Longview, and Kandi Chambers of Conroe; great grandchildren, Jannah Haney and Justin Haney, both of Winnsboro; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Travis Huggins and Claude Huggins; and sister, Willie Mae Huggins.

Pallbearers will be Jared Ledbetter, James Ruby, Marion Townsend, Glenn Wallace, Wayne Haney and Jim Oxspring.

Honorary pallbearer will be Charles Huggins.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1505 S. John Redditt Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
