Funeral services for Paul E. Tucker, 70, of Lufkin will be held Friday, September 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Grady Higgs and Dr. Darryl Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery. His family and friends rejoice in his homecoming to Heaven on this day, which would have been he and Mrs. Pat’s 50th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Tucker was born November 30, 1942 in Lufkin, Texas to Gresham and Opal (Findley) Tucker, and following a valiant fight against cancer, died Monday, September 2, 2013 in a Tyler hospital.
Mr. Tucker was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. He retired from Perco Distributors following 28 years of employment, and also had a lawn care service for 24 years. Mr. Tucker enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his younger days he enjoyed baseball, winning two Pony League World Series titles. He was a member of Keltys First Baptist Church.
Mr. Tucker was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He was happiest when he was helping others and was a collector of “vast treasures”. He spent his life supporting his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at their activities, as well as taking them fishing and for boat rides at the lake.
Survivors include his son, Rodney Tucker of Huntington; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Howard Kline of Rusk and Mitzie and Stephen Brockman of Brenham; grandchildren, Brady Tucker, Braxton, Cheyenne and Sierra Brockman; sisters and brother-in-law, Rose and James Allen, Nancy Shoemaker and Jean and Johnny Kendrick, all of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia “Pat” Tucker; brother, Robert Tucker; and brother-in-law, Elmer Shoemaker.
Pallbearers will be Delwin Shoemaker, Dennis Shoemaker, Danny Shoemaker, Darin Kendrick, Jared Kendrick and Jason Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Martin, Ken Reeves, Ronnie Davis, Roshal Mooney, Reagan Kelsey, Mark Pickard, James Smith, Lloyd Havard, Troy Tucker, Rusty Tucker, Randy Boles and James McMullen.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904 or Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
