Mary "Sissy" Tillman Adams

Funeral services for Mary “Sissy” Tillman Adams, 79, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Adams was born January 12, 1934 in Shelby County, Texas to Leon and Nedra (Alexander) Tillman, and died Monday, September 2, 2013 in a local nursing home. She was a lifetime resident of Lufkin.

Mrs. Adams loved her family and will be greatly missed by all. She was a great cook and was the best at making chocolate and coconut pies, and banana pudding. Mrs. Adams had many fun times at the lake with her family. While raising their family, they were very active members of the Fourth and Groesbeck Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughter, Virginia “Ginger” Zeagler of Lufkin; son, Danny Ray Adams of Lufkin; grandchildren, Danny Ray Adams II, Jonanna Zeagler Mason and husband Jeff, Kimberlee Zeagler, Daniel Adams, Chris Adams and April Adams, all of Lufkin; three great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeanette and Joe Davis and Shirley and Johnny Jackson, all of Lufkin; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Angie Stubblefield and Sandra and Kenneth Wagner, all of Lufkin; special friend, Zelma Hughes; her beloved pet, Patch; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 48 years, Elton Ray Adams.

Pallbearers will be Bubba Davis, Jay Jackson, Dan Teer, Glenn Sullivan, Joe Scott and Jeff Mason.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Davis, Johnny Jackson, Royce Kendrick and Jeff Scott.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
