Mary Lou Smith Rainwater

Funeral services for Mary Lou Smith Rainwater, 78, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, September 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jerry Chandler officiating. Interment will follow in the Tom Havard Cemetery.

Mrs. Rainwater was born March 22, 1935 in the Saron Community, Angelina County, Texas to Marion Harris and Rose Lee (Stanley) Harris Gilcrease, and died Friday, August 30, 2013 in a local hospital. She had resided in Lufkin most of her life. Mrs. Rainwater retired from the Housekeeping Department at Temple-Inland. She was a member of the Burke Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daddy, Johnny Gilcrease of Zavalla; sons and daughters-in-law, Troy and Wanda Smith and Bobby and Sharon Smith, all of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Danny Abbott of Lufkin and Carolyn Susie and Douglas Abbott of Burke; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sally Gilcrease of Zavalla; sisters and brother-in-law, Marie Stanford of Zavalla, Clara Mae Harris of Brazoria and Irene and Robert Conner of Woodville; sister-in-law, Joy Harris of Vidor; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Rainwater; father of her children, James Edward Smith; and brother, Jimmy Harris.

Pallbearers will be John Weaver, Shawn Abbott, Jason Abbott, Edward Pool, Chris Ward and Quinton Wilson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
